I don't care if you make someone up or, even better, use real life important historical figures in the campaign missions but when I look down at the map, I don't want to see the same identical hero character in every single mission who doesn't even speak or act like anything more than a lifeless puppet. I loved AOE2 because of all the different voice actors they employed, at the least, to make you feel like you were actually working with a real person and that's far more pronounced in AOE3 where you quickly feel like you're working through someone's story with them. What's more, none of the characters have a real identity. Like poorly made skirmish matches painted over with the same narrator constantly. I hate a game that pretends to have a story but all of their campaign missions are dull or the same. In any case, the rest of my review will just be pointing out small things that annoyed me.ฤก) I already hinted that I didn't like how they completely tossed aside everything from AOE3 and I'll make it clear why because it's actually linked to AOE2 as well. Not only that, they clearly believed that players only want a sequel to AOE2 because they completely scrapped anything from AOE3 despite how many more positive reviews that game got than diehard fans of AOE2 may have you believe. That's a 16 years gap and for what? An exact clone of AOE2 with walls you can walk on, far fewer civilisations than any of the past games and hyped up graphics and narration. I would feel embarrassed as a developer if I had to stamp my name on a game that was cooking for this long and delivered so little. The first thing that surprises me is just what we got compared to how long the gap between AOE3 and AOE4 was. I still even plan to play the game myself going forward, I just can't look over what diehard fans probably turn a blind eye too. I'm saying this in case some people take my personal opinion to heart like an attack on them for enjoying the game themselves.
#Age of empires iv on mac professional
One other note before I continue is that I greatly enjoyed AOE2 and even more so AOE3 and even if I have played both a lot as well as other RTS games, I don't consider myself a professional on Age of Empires 4. Regardless, I'm still going to vent about the majority of problems I see in Age of Empires 4 and what I felt could have been done better, even with a minimal amount of effort on the developers' part. The only reason I don't outright roast the game was because I felt the pricing wasn't bad for what you received and you can see they did put actual effort into certain aspects of the game. I'll start off this review by saying upfront that this is a decent game and if you enjoyed playing Age of Empires 2, it would probably match up well with your preferences, however, I cannot recommend the game because I feel, personally, the game was not made to the level I was expecting.
